Mega brands Nike and Hasbro have teamed up to produce a Decepticon inspired pair of sneakers, which takes the distinctive purple of the Transformers’ baddies all the way to End Zone glory.

The two companies have joined forces once before to create a unique range of Autobot styled trainers.

But, this time designers have drawn inspiration from the cartoon rendition of Megatron and the Detroit Lions’ Calvin Johnson Jr.

The wide receiver is affectionately referred to as ‘Megatron’ by his former teammate and fellow wide receiver Roy Williams for having huge hands, similar to the transformers.

The trainers feature a distinctive purple, red and grey colour scheme that was made famous in the original cartoons and the CJ81’s even go as far as having the decepticons motto ‘show no mercy’ printed under the support strap.

Nike has announced that they will make two out of the three pairs of the Megatron trainers available on their website and in selected high street stores.

But, true fans and collectors will be required to fork out £340 in order to get their hands on the limited edition CJ81 Megatron Elite TD Cleats, which are only available as part of the Megatron Rises three-pack.

This collectors pack is a little more expensive than your average pair of trainers, but Hasbro and Nike are hoping it will appeal to collectors as it comes with a 5” custom Megatron complete with B2 bomber transforming action.

No official release date has been announced for the trainers. But, Nike have promised we will see them in stores ‘soon’.
