All over the world, Foo fans have been waiting with baited breath for an announcement.
We knew something was coming, 25 years of Foo Fighters is a big thing to celebrate, and we finally have at least the start of the celebrations for their silver anniversary.
From April 12th the Foo Fighters 2020 van tour will kick off in Phoenix, AZ, before hitting a number of the same cities Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel and Pat Smear played at all those years ago.
There are a few differences between the 1995 tour and 2020 tour, the main being that no way are the original venues big enough for the Foo Fighters now!
Not only is their fanbase significantly larger, but of course Taylor Hawkins, Rami Jaffee and Chris Shiflett are now also vital members of the band.
So a stadium tour it is, or is it? Squeezing a 2020 show into one of the original venues would just be insane…right?!
As if another tour isn’t exciting enough, fans that attend will also be treated to a sneak peak of Dave’s newest documentary, What Drives Us. Following Sound City and Sonic Highways, its sure to be yet another great watch from the multitalented musician.
What Drives Us is Dave’s deep dive into what possesses a particular tribe of human beings to leave behind jobs, families, relationships and any semblance of sanity to climb into a busted ass econoline and take their music to the people–or at least a dozen or so of them here and there.
It also explores motivations, recounts personal anecdotes, and explores the physical and psychological toll of touring in vans via interviews with members of van tour veteran bands ranging from Black Flag and Dead Kennedys to Metallica and The Beatles, and many, many more.
If they’re dropping by your town, be sure to grab a ticket! Its gonna be one hell of a show!
