Thanks to the COVID19 pandemic, the options for travel are fairly scarce for UK travellers. Although more countries have been added to the green list recently, there are plenty of valid reasons why you might want to avoid going abroad in the near future, from the cost of COVID tests to COVID19 restrictions in place in other countries if you are travelling alone and want to make new friends.

Thankfully, solo staycations in the UK can be a lot of fun and there are plenty of great areas to consider visiting.

Why The UK is great for solo travellers

Travel is good for our health and there are lots of different factors that make the UK a great choice for people travelling on their own.

It’s a fairly safe country and since you are already familiar with how things in the UK work, there’s less risk of you running into trouble when you’re by yourself.

Plus, you don’t have to worry about things like additional charges for using your phone or bank fees if you withdraw cash or make payments using your card. And, great road links mean that you can easily plan a road trip on your own around the UK to save money.

There are tons of destinations to choose from no matter what kind of UK city break you want to experience on your own.
Here are some of the best.

London

If a UK city break sounds like your thing, there are plenty of reasons to consider visiting London for your solo UK trip.

This vibrant city is filled with things to see and do and even with COVID19 restrictions in place, you can find a lot of different things to get involved in, great restaurants, and some of the best tourist attractions in the country.

Manchester

Another fantastic city to visit on your own in the UK is Manchester. Dubbed the London of the North, Manchester is an exciting and vibrant city with plenty to do and a thriving LGBTQ+ scene.

It’s the home of music, TV, arts, and much more with something for everybody whether you are interested in shopping at high-end department stores or want to find hidden treasures at Affleck’s. There’s plenty to do from museums and art galleries to guided tours and much more, and the people are super friendly – you’ll never have any issues making new friends.

Brighton

If you want to combine a city with a beach, Brighton is the place for you. This city is the gay capital and the vegan capital of the UK, hugely popular with young people from nearby universities and Londoners who are looking to get away from the busy streets.

It’s a hugely multicultural city and is fantastic for foodies, with tons of restaurants serving a huge range of different cuisines from around the world to try.

Solo travel doesn’t have to be postponed if you want to explore more of the world on your own this year. In fact, several destinations in the UK are fantastic for anybody travelling alone.
