Sefton Park Palm House has teamed up with celebrity personal trainer Maziar Ajtar to support a ten-year-old’s heart-warming mission to raise funds for Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

George Mathias from St Helens, who set up the ‘Run with George’ campaign in a bid to thank the doctors and nurses who saved the life of his younger brother James, completed a one-mile run around Sefton Park alongside members of the Hollyoaks cast including Amrit Maghera and Luke Jerdy.

The mile-long stint, which commenced at the iconic Victorian glasshouse, represented George’s journey to complete one-mile for every month that his brother has been alive.

Senior Events Manager at Sefton Park Palm House Rosemary Sorrell said: “I speak on behalf of the team at the Palm House when I say we can’t begin express the pride and joy we feel to have backed such an amazing cause - George is a truly inspirational young boy.

“Having teamed up with the highly regarded personal trainer Maziar Ajtar, who has become known locally for his celebrity clientele, we are so grateful how he rallied the runners and got Hollyoaks actors and actresses on board. A massive well done goes to everyone who took part.”

In line with supporting the ‘Run with George’ campaign, Sefton Park Palm House is currently in the process of devising a fitness and wellbeing programme to add to its eclectic mix of events for all ages.

Rosemary added: “Sefton Park continues to be a firm favourite amongst runners and those wanting a leisurely stroll to help keep active. With fitness regimens and healthy living being such a high priority in most peoples’ lives these days, we want to offer a refreshing new space to exercise the mind, body and soul. While our weekly yoga continues to be ever so popular, we want to further the scope of our activities to broaden the demographic and keep in tune with what our visitors would like.”
