Today is a day of superheroes and villains, protagonists and antagonists, artists and merchandisers, costumiers and Cosplayers.

MCM, the UK’s biggest multi-genre convention, will be returning to Liverpool for an exclusive two-day event for visitors, exhibitors and fans alike to flaunt their passion for modern pop culture.

People from across the nation will flee to Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre today and tomorrow to participate in this renowned event of modern pop culture, with even more coming than last year’s 23,000 attendees.

The weekend will have everything imaginable from films, TV programmes, anime, merchandise, you name it!

This year MCM Liverpool have yet another brilliant line-up of special guests for all to meet.

Fans of Doctor Who will have the chance to meet a favourable duo, Greg Austin and Fady Elsayed who are acting in a Doctor Who spin-off called Class.

Joining them are stars from Sherlock and Red Dwarf: Louise Brealey, who plays Molly Hooper in Sherlock, and Danny John-Jules, Cat from Red Dwarf, and Chris Barrie as Rimmer.

Elsewhere, hundreds of Cosplayers will flaunt their way through MCM Comic Con Liverpool today.

From 4pm today, the renowned Cosplay Masquerade will take place to discover and crown Liverpool’s best dressed.

The Masquerade will showcase the work of the UK's most talented Cosplayers, from hand-made costumes, to exact replicas of characters from movies, anime, comics and video games!

Photographs of the event, including stalls, Cosplayers and special guests will be up on our Facebook page, @PurpleRevolver
