Hope Street Hotel was flooded with stunning models and luxury labels yesterday.
My Liverpool Life hosted its third Ladies Who Lunch event with local children’s charity KIND as the benefactor. KIND is celebrating 40 years of supporting families in Liverpool by providing them with fully-loaded, luxury hampers at this special time of year.
With a great cause at its heart, the event got off to a fabulous start as compere for the afternoon, Laura (My Liverpool Life) introduced the first designer of the catwalk show.
Complimentary prosecco was flowing the first model from Birmingham designer, Dancing Dolls sauntered across the cool roof top terrace to rapturous applause.
Collection creator Paulinha said: “I really love the venue, it’s edgy and suits my collection perfectly, I’d love to show in Liverpool again, people are really positive and friendly.”
From Paulinha’s bright, bold patterns and structured tailoring to the monochrome palette and free-flowing designs of Anthony Yassi, the show oozed class. Anthony’s pieces featured delicate lace and sheer fabric creations that Alice Temperley would be proud of.
A lavish three-course lunch was served courtesy of The London Carriageworks and attendees had the chance to chat to the designers themselves and owner of Kitty Butler Ltd, Paula, who exhibited some of her current designer label stock. Chanel handbags, Fendi shoes and Stella McCartney dresses surrounded the dining tables making for a sumptuous dining experience.
The fashion show continued with collections from C&V by Ria and Bijou Vintage. The combination of 50’s style mid-length dresses, sweetheart necklines and knock-out floor-length sequin dresses brought cheering and applause from the diners.
Sarvin continued the opulent theme with a procession of beautiful body-con dresses in muted tones, save for a scarlet-red, plunge neckline dress that received a great response from the crowd. A modern day Jessica Rabbit design.
Local Milliner Laura James brought a fresh approach to headwear and partnered with fellow designer Ria to showcase her hats. Heavy velvet wrap headbands with huge printed bows and adornments are sure to be pictured at Aintree next year. The disc style hats with netting, feathers and Chinese influences completed a varied and impressive collection.
Guests were treated to a red carpet finale from Liverpool legend Jake Phillip Nuttall. Models draped in gowns and jumpsuits of aquamarine, gold and sumptuous dark green velvet, walked with attitude. Jake’s knowledge of tailoring was evident as his fish tail dresses created breath-taking movement. A short, heavily beaded, aquamarine dress stole the show as model, Charlotte strutted with purpose to end the show.
The afternoon ended with a prize draw and the opportunity to buy direct from the catwalk pop-up shops. Huge congratulations to the My Liverpool Life team on a fantastic event.
