Bob Dylan opens new art exhibition in Copenhagen

A new visual arts exhibition created by Bob Dylan is getting its first ever viewing in Copenhagen.

The 40 acrylic paintings called The Brazil Series were painted specifically for the exhibition at Denmark’s National Gallery and depict images of figurative scenes from Brazilian slums, farms and beaches.

The 69-year-old American singer-songwriter sketched the scenes during his tours around South America and converted them onto canvas in a studio.

Dylan told the museum very little about the process of creating the paintings, he said: "I chose Brazil as a subject, because I have been there many times and I like the atmosphere.”

Dylan is best known for 1960s classics, such as Blowin' in the Wind and The Times They are a-Changin, which became anthems for a whole generation.

The exhibition is set to run at Denmark’s National Gallery in Copenhagen until the end of January. There is no word yet whether the exhibition will tour.
