The Futureheads performed an a capella set of melodies from the new album Rant in their home town indie record shop - Hot Rats to help celebrate Record Store Day.

The Sunderland four-piece were fresh from a mini UK tour and also performed at stores in Newcastle and on Teesside in a drive to encourage more people to support independent record traders.

Hot Rats has been trading for 18 years and specialises in classic vinyls and new music, as well as selling music T-shirts.

As part of Record Store Day, it was selling exclusive vinyls from The Futureheads and fellow Sunderland musicians, Field Music.

In June, The Futureheads will support Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Stadium of Light.
