The Futureheads unveiled this heart warming and beautifully shot video of them performing The Old Dun Cow, a folk standard taken from their new album Rant. In case you’re wondering what it’s about, it’s about saving all the booze from a burning pub... by drinking it.

The guys kick off their UK acoustic and acapella tour on Monday in Brighton on the same day that Rant is released along with the single Meet Me Halfway/The No.1 Song in Heaven.

Filmed by Ian West, the video shows just how catchy the folk songs on Rant can be. The song tells the story of a burning boozer and its dedicated customers who, instead of fleeing the building, decide to consume as much of the stock as possible before the whole pub falls apart. Humorous and engaging, it dispels the myth that all traditional folk songs are less than easy on the ear.

Rant is going to be a gamble, but Ross Millard hopes that fans will be open to the changes, he said: "A lot of them might not accept songs like The Old Dun Cow and The Keeper and dismiss them as old-time and medieval.

"But I’d like them to hear it with different ears and appreciate that we’re doing a modernist version."
