Fresh from their triumphant headline appearances at Slam Dunk Festival last weekend, Don Broco have released the video for their new single ‘Uber’.

The anti-discrimination and anti-hate song is the result of, and a reaction to, several shocking situations that the band found themselves in.

The track, which calls out racists, was inspired by a fairly explicit recounting of experiences the band had whilst in America.

The British rock band formed in Bedford, shot in a claustrophobic rehearsal space and the frantic energy of the band’s performance captures the aggression and frustration of the track.

Speaking of the track, the band said: “This was the first song we started writing for the album a few years ago touring the States.

“Within the space of a week three separate Uber drivers were openly racist in front of us, I guess assuming as white guys we’d share their views.”

The lyrics reflect those experiences which are enhanced by the frantic performance in the music video as frontman Rob Damiani fiercely sings: “I’ve been dealing with the driver who’s sorry for my lot/ ‘Cause my country got us mixing our blood/ And it’s boiling his blood/ And it’s spoiling my blood.”

‘Uber’ is taken from the band’s fourth album ‘Amazing Things’, and follows the release of 2018’s ‘Technology’ which was a Top 5 album in the UK charts and has had over 100 million streams to date.

Fans have been wildly enthusiastic about the singles released through the summer, with ‘Manchester Super Reds No.1 Fan’, ‘Gumshield’ and ‘One True Prince’ all being accompanied by spectacular videos that are as unique as Don Broco themselves.

Originally set for release on 17th September, the new album has been postponed until 22nd October due to COVID-19. The band stated: “We’ve been told this week that due to COVID related vinyl delays, we have no choice but to delay the release day to 22nd October.

“We want everyone to be able to experience ‘Amazing Things’ all at the same time and are gutted we have to wait a little longer, but promise it’s going to be worth it.

“

Unfortunately, this means our in-store signings at HMV won’t go ahead. We understand that HMV will be in contact directly with any fans who were planning to come.

“This has given us the opportunity to restock some of the sold out and low stock vinyl variants, including the Manchester Super Reds special edition.

“Thanks so much for your understanding.”

A ferociously good live band, acclaimed for their relentless high-octane performances, Don Broco have previously sold-out arena shows across the UK.

Their upcoming album is very aptly named and yet another genre-blending masterpiece with electro, rock, pop, metal and more, all wrapped up in their own unique blend bringing to mind the likes of Deftones, Beastie Boys and Linkin Park amongst others.

The band are set out on a major headlining tour of the UK starting late October which includes multiple nights in UK cities.

The four tracks that have been released from ‘Amazing Things’ so far are very promising if the rest of the album is to follow a similar style. Forever pushing boundaries and never ones to follow trends, Don Broco are back and it feels good.
