Having caused a stir in 2017 with the release of his EP Heddison, featuring key tracks Greatly Hasty and Oxytocin, which now sits at over a million streams on Spotify – Hull born/Manchester based singer-songwriter Jack Conman went on to enjoy airplay from Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1, perform at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and make CLASH’s coveted Next Wave feature.

Now, as we climb out of lockdown, Jack is releasing the single Before You Love Me from his upcoming debut self-produced album Seventh Sense Libido, due out early next year.

Before You Love Me is a highly intimate song with a tender vocal performance that describes beautifully that moment when we feel most vulnerable as we take those first steps in a romantic relationship. As with much of Jack’s material, there’s an emotional honestly to the lyric that creates a strong imagery around the song, almost as if the audience can personally visualise the story by the lyric.

It’s this mix of Jack’s rugged image contrasting with the soft and sensitive nature of his music that makes him such a unique and interesting artist – and on the subject of honesty, Jack says he’s not interested in being perceived as masculine or straight but feels very strongly that people should embrace their sexuality and be honest about who they are.

Citing Jeff Buckley, Pete Doherty, Aretha Franklin & Chet Baker as musical influences, Jack started his musical journey as the drummer in a Nickelback covers band at the age of 8. Things began to really come together when he started writing music at 12 & was signed to Warren Records (part of the highly influential Hull based Warren Youth Project) at the age of 17, where he met friend & mentor Stew Baxter from indie band LIFE & released his first EP Euphoria Springs. Then with the release of his 2nd EP Heddison, Jack’s audience grew considerably when a version of Greatly Hasty, illustrating his percussive guitar style, was featured on aesthetic YouTube channel Colors attracting much interest & the single Oxytocin, also from the EP, has since gone on to rack up well over a million streams on Spotify alone.

Now, with his debut album Seventh Sense Libido on the horizon, and featuring such emotionally open tracks as Before You Love Me, it’s high time Jack Conman slipped back into the lexicon of music fans.
