Friday Firsts: Cameron Froom

In these busy and ever changing times, we all need something to hold on to, to get us through the difficult times, we draw strength from many sources, be it friends, activities and sometimes even substances, this is the tone set in Sign Of The Times from 19 year old Cameron Froom.

A track pulled straight from the indie scene with the Gallaghers' influence streaming straight through it.

The almost contradictory sound of that rhythmic guitar sets it aside from Froom’s vocals that play out the track like a smooth run on dusty road. It’s not melancholy in the least it’s an affirmation of life and the quest for balance.

From around the age of 12, Cameron wanted to pursue a career in music and has now taken that step further towards that goal and moved from his home in Bolton to study in Manchester.

Experimenting with sound and vocals from indie rock to ballads, playing many of the instruments himself and recording all the vocal parts from his room at university.

Taking his cue from 90’s britpop and more recently discovering Travis’s back catalogue having overlooking them during their pop chart success. More recently still enjoying newer artists such as Shame’s newest album and Noel Gallagher’s Doves.

At present Cameron is concentrating on his studies so has no live performance plans but when not studying or working he is adding to the growing collection of songs on Soundcloud. He is planning a revival of an older track Seasons for re-release in mid-June.

As festival season is almost upon us Cameron muses on what would make a dream festival which would take place in his hometown of Bolton at Heston Park with an outstanding line-up of Oasis, The Stone Roses, Stereophonics, The Verve and The Smiths….what an unmissable show that would be!
