Last year was insanity with iconic music from global artists such as Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga, Radiohead and more. Can this year top the charts with its upcoming artists who are hungry for the stage? Here are Purple Revolver’s Top 8 artists to tune in to during 2017.

HUNTAR

Lewis Mokler, Huntar, has been shredding through life as an English support act but is now fully ready to take the limelight. The ‘diamond’ pop prince features on Fifa 2017, with his incredible single ‘4AM’. Another fan favourite is dance beat ‘Anyway’, which would be the perfect song to jam along to at his gigs. He is determined and driven with high expectations, almost as high as he can carry a tune. His voice is gold. Watch this space, Huntar is here to stay.

Ray BLK

She’s a slick singing soul artist has just been crowned BBC Music Sound 2017. Critics can’t get enough of the 22-year- old Londoner’s raspy voice, as she sings about her upbringing and everyday life. Her mini-album released last year, ‘Durt’, features the likes of Wretch 32 and Stormzy. Ray BLK is still an unsigned artist, yet she’s climbed her way to the top of the BBC’s expectations.

Rag ‘N’ Bone Man

British singer-songwriter, Rory Graham, has soared from his lifelong ambitions to being certified gold for his single ‘Human’ in 7 countries. Proving his talent should be on this list, he was awarded Brit’s Critic Choice Award 2017. The powerful voice and MC skills of Rag ‘N’ Bone Man make him a dark horse in the charts, as he possesses multi-talents. February will see the release of his long awaited debut album, ‘Human’.

Hippo Campus

The indie rock four-piece from Minnesota are the best band to listen to on a car journey. Their music can chill you out and make you want to be a rock guitarist at the same time. Current music from their EP, ‘South’, represents progressive and cheerful sound. Since playing festivals like Leeds and Reading, Hippo Campus have grown in the music industry and are headlining their own tour this year. To kick it off, their debut album ‘Landmark’ is released on Feb 24 th . That’ll be one for the iTunes list.

The Hunna

This indie-rock band are taking over Spotify, festivals and interviews across the globe. Their first single ‘Bonfire’ reached a ridiculous amount of radio stations, including being a favourite at Radio 1. With sensational energy and undying determination for music, the four-piece are hitting the streets hard with a second leg of their first headline tour – 100. Since their debut album took to the shelves in August last year, The Hunna’s reputation and fan base has rocketed. After winning the hearts of America as well as our own, the boys are making big plans for the future.

AJ Tracey

If rap is more your style, then English Grime MC, AJ Tracey, is an artist worth looking up. Named as “one of the best new acts in the UK” by The Guardian, AJ Tracey made his mark on the Grime scene in 2015 with his first EP, ‘Alex Moran’, but is back for more with another scorching EP: ‘Lil Tracey’. Recognised as one of the most modern and clever lyricists, his current music is becoming more popular daily. His headline UK tour kicks off on January 20th , you won’t want to miss it.

Clean Cut Kid

Liverpool born and bred, Clean Cut Kid are raking in the listeners with their strong guitar pop sound. The quartet played a whopping 32 festivals over the summer and were also a support act for The Courteener’s UK tour. Their latest single, Make Believe, was released in October last year and is a stunning piece. Our interview with Clean Cut Kid illustrates their positivity and humbleness for their music and the listeners – check it out here: https://goo.gl/jgsvfS

Ed Sheeran

C’mon, he has to be involved in this. Ed has taken a year (too long) out of the music industry to focus on himself. He fully deserves it after the ‘X’ tour, in which he sold out Wembley Stadium for three nights – 270,000 fans! – As well as touring the world at its high demand. The world stood still on Jan 6 th when he released two brand new singles – Castle on the Hill and Shape of You. We are SO excited for even more music from the lyrical genius.
