Always with a mind to business, Hip Hop legend Jay Z has added Steven Spielberg to his circle of trust after signing the movie director’s kids to his management company.
The Black Album rapper was one of several music bosses impressed by indie duo Wardell – the Jurassic Park director’s children Sasha and Theo – at the SXSW festival in Austin Texas this year.
Sahsa, 23, has previously acted in films including her father’s Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull and sings in the band, while Theo – who is adopted – is responsible for their music.
They will release their debut album next year and promise a ‘comfortable and chill’ sound.
Their profile page on Roc Nation’s website reads: “Sasha and Theo are brother and sister.
“That familiarity and fondness informs the music that they make together, which is at once warm and summery, comfortable and chill as a result of their Los Angeles upbringing.”
Wardell are in good company having Roc Nation as their management, as the company also handle Kylie Minogue, Shakira, Rihanna, Calvin Harris and Rita Ora.
They also guide the career of Haim, who beat Justin Timberlake to the top spot in the album charts on Sunday.
Rap mogul Jay Z, one of the richest men in the music industry, has admitted he got his business skills from drug dealing.
He said selling crack cocaine on the streets of New York during the 1980s gave him the skills to succeed later in life.
Jay, 43 said: “I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer.
“To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up.”
Jay Z has never hidden his past as a drug dealer before he found fame and fortune as a music producer.
