Ted Jasper back for more - new single Too Worried coming soon

Cornwall-raised and London-based artist Ted Jasper is gearing up to release a new EP titled ‘Equinox’ next month and is now sharing ‘Too Worried’, the latest single from the five-track collection.

Doubling up as a house DJ/producer as well as a fully-fledged songwriter carving out jazzy, hip-hop-infused downtempo, Jasper has quickly becoming a fast-rising name on the London scene since his 2018 ‘One Day’ EP on Jamz Supernova’s Future Bounce imprint.

Arriving off the back of the follow-up ‘Back For More’ EP (2019) and support from 6 Music, Complex, Mixmag, Boiler Room, Radio 1 and 1Xtra, ‘Equinox’ is due for release March 6th via Au Contraire. To celebrate the release Jasper will headline The Waiting Room on April 21st. You can stream ‘Too Worried’ here: http://hyperurl.co/crofl8

New single ‘Too Worried’, out today, closes the incoming EP in a suitably mellow and chilled-out fashion, Jasper fusing off-kilter, downtempo production with warm and lo-fi atmospherics: “I loved writing this.

What really got me excited about the song was that crazy lo-fi guitar sound that loops through most of the song, I was recording in such a cramped space in London I had to keep shuffling around to stay comfortable, all those shuffles made this warm percussive sound that became super important for the rhythm of the track.”

Talking about the ‘Equinox’ EP, Jasper says: “Moving forward from my first vocal EP I wanted to create a cohesive project that represented a certain mood and tone. I’ve always admired artists like SBTRKT or The Streets that create EPs/albums that hang off a subject matter or aesthetic, where every song just flows into one another.

For this EP I landed on Winter. Most of these songs were written during the time of year where evenings are long and days are short. Without being fully conscious of it happening, the textures and themes of winter leaked into the songs I’d written. Creating a cohesive narrative is a lot easier when you allow seasons to dictate your mood!”

Through his multifaceted work as a DJ, producer and recording artist, Jasper has attracted the admiration of established names such as Robert Owens of Chicago house pioneers Fingers Inc and legendary German DJ Daniel Haaksman, who Jasper subsequently wound up collaborating with.

As well as consistent radio airplay and praise courtesy of the likes of Giles Peterson (6Music), Jamz Supernova (1Xtra), Laurent Garnier (Boiler Room), Phil Taggart (Radio 1) and John Kennedy (Radio X), further support has come from Worldwide FM, Radio Nova and BBC Introducing (who added him to their nationwide ‘Hot List’).
