It a rarity that a band plays Alexandra Palace on the release of their first album but it seems there’s just no stopping the biggest new band in Britain.
Earlier this year their Bad Blood Tour sold out in an instant and then there was the autumn tour which sold out in a matter of hours. Now Bastille are pleased to announce a 2014 UK tour kicking off in Februarynext year, which sees the band play 5 dates across the UK culminating in a spectacular show at London’s Alexandra Palace.
The Bad Blood Tour Part III comes fresh off the back of a run of huge UK festival appearances and theirNo.1 album ‘Bad Blood’ reaching landmark sales to become the biggest selling debut album of the year.
Bastille have had a packed summer in 2013 seeing them on some of the biggest stages on the festival circuit including performances at Radio 1 Big Weekend, T in the Park, Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, and headlining stages at Wakestock, Blissfields and Standon Calling.
Their last tour in March of this year Bastille took 16 UK cities by force, with the final two nights at London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire selling out. The tour itself sold out months in advance, long before the release of their debut album and saw fans ecstatically singing along to every word at every show.
Bad Blood is the band’s platinum selling debut album and the biggest selling debut album of year, which was released on Virgin Records and soared to No.1 in the UK charts a week after their fourth single Pompeii reached no.2 in the singles chart.
Given the indie music maelstrom, it’s a rarity to see a band achieve so much in such a short space of time but Bastille are paving their own way, creating great pop songs that are both absorbing and genre-defining.
