The curvaceous diva prepares to add another string to her bow by landing the role of covering renowned soul and jazz singer Amy Winehouse, for the forthcoming film The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

The late Grammy-winner's songs are famously drenched in emotion and centre around a lyrical inspiration of heartache and broken relationships. Yet it appears fair to state that if anyone can do the legacy of the singer proud, Beyonce is the woman for the job with her vocals stunning over one hundred thousand music-lovers at the most recent Glastonbury festival.

The singer is covering Back To Black, one of Amy's most iconic tracks, for the soundtrack to the Hollywood remake, set to open at the Cannes Film Festival this coming May. With an appropriate essence of jazz, the track is ideal for the film which is based on the Twenties novel by F Scott Fitzgerald.

Beyonce will perform the song as a part of a duet with Andre 3000 from Outkast, with a view to giving the record an original spin.

A source said, "The track was perfect for the film but the whole idea of the 2013 picture is to give everything a new twist". Beyonce had been handed the gig by her husband Jay-Z, who is the executive producer on the Gatsby soundtrack.

The rapper's record label had to first clear the cover with Amy's family and her Back To Black co-writer Mark Ronson before the release could be confirmed. Jay-Z is actively contributing new songs to the project too and has booked Jack White of the White Stripes to cover U2's Love Is Blindness for the soundtrack album.

The rapper, also known as Shawn Corey Carter, acquired the gig after he invited the film's director Baz Luhrmann to recording sessions for the Watch The Throne album with Kanye West.

Baz has a brilliant track record for the use of music in his films. Moulin Rouge gained wider recognition through the hit Lady Marmalade being successfully covered by Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim and PINK!

The film also stars British beauty Carey Mulligan - who shot to fame following her role in the well-received film An Education, Tobey Maguire and stunning red-head Isla Fisher. The film is already creating mass appeal and is tipped for Oscar glory.
