mUmU is back this weekend in Liverpool

mUmU is back in Liverpool this weekend, returning for its next Bank Holiday session in the city.

As one of the UK’s last few remaining bastions of lovingly curated techno, mUmU remains very much true to its original roots long since embedded deep into the foundations of Liverpool’s club culture, cultivating a loyal crowd who have followed the party’s intimate growth and nomadic travels from venue to venue. Now with its home made in the renascent Baltic Triangle, the next two parties continue to enhance mUmU’s standing and original vision to bring the finest DJs to Liverpool.

Taking place this during this weekend’s bank holiday Sunday May 28 th at the New Bird Warehouse, there’s a real techno feast to savour, with two titans of the scene touching down. Founder of his Dystopian parties and record label, Rødhåd is a seminal figure whose style is always deep, powerful and melancholic, from dub to techno and back to house. Serbian spinner Tijana T is a fellow master behind the decks, who has performed in Ibiza, Berlin’s Panorama Bar and New York's Output. She has been a key figure in the Belgrade nightlife for over a decade, and is a vibrant and energetic performer behind the decks. Lee Rands provides the support.

Then fast-forwarding through the hopefully balmy summer months, mUmU returns for its annual August Bank Holiday session at the Great Baltic Warehouse, and again they have recruited two of the most forward-thinking and in-demand artists of the techno scene. DJ and producer Marcel Dettmann is recognised as one of the most influential proponents of contemporary techno, his name synonymous with Berlin, Berghain and Hard Wax.

His stellar sets encompass the finest techno and banging Chicago sounds, merging old and new tunes from the past twenty-five years to incredible effect. And fellow Berghain resident and childhood friend of Marcel, Answer Code Request, joins the party; since his Subway Into EP brought him to the fore, he now continues to reinvent the very music which he plays and produces. It’s heavy duty, rhythmically entrancing material from one of German’s premier techno artists, who brings further textured layers of techno to mUmU. The club’s resident Lee Rands supports.

Further shows will be announced for later in the year.
