On Friday 23 June 2017 you have the chance to see Bootsy’s Rubber Band, one of the all-time great musicians and P-Funk pioneers, live in action in London at O2 Forum Kentish Town.

This is Bootsy’s first UK show in over five years and will celebrate over 40 years of funk, soul and RnB.

Born October 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bootsy started out at the legendary King Records as an in-house staff musician (playing with the likes of Hank Ballard, Marva Whitney etc.) before leaving to join “the hardest working man in show business”, Mr James Brown, as part of the JB’s and helping to craft such all-time classics as 'Get Up', 'Sex Machine’, 'Super Bad' and 'Soul Power'.

After leaving the JB's he joined P-Funk maestro George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic which yielded hits such as 'Tear the Roof of the Sucker'. It was George Clinton who encouraged Bootsy to form his own band and release his own records, which Bootsy duly did. After forming Bootsy's Rubber Band and getting signed to Columbia, the band went on to release multiple gold million selling albums and chart hits, known for their bizarre humour, outrageous lyrics and unadulterated funk.

During the 80s and 90s Bootsy was very much sought after and worked with an array of artists such as Herbie Hancock, Talking Heads, Keith Richards, Cyndi Lauper, Ice Cube and Afrika Bambaataa. It was also during this period he lent his funk magic to an up and coming group called Deee-Lite, spawning the massive hit 'Groove Is In The Heart’ and a world tour with Bootsy as special guest bassist. This in turn led to more collaborations with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phil Ramone and more.

In 1997 Bootsy was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and in 2002 he received his first Grammy Award for his work with Fatboy Slim on ‘Weapon Of Choice'.
