Reading & Leeds 2013: Alternative stages announced

The acts have been announced for this year’s Reading & Leeds Festivals, guaranteeing exclusive performances, huge headliners and rising stars over the August Bank Holiday this summer.

Exclusive UK festival performances have been announced from headliners Green Day, Eminem and Biffy Clyro, plus exclusive appearances from Fall Out Boy, System of A Down, Deftones and Skrillex.

Reading & Leeds have now revealed the line-up for the Alternative Stage with the likes of Russell Kane, Seann Walsh and Josh Widdicombe.

Russell Kane’s brand of arch and intelligent observations ensures that there is no other comedian like him. His recent accolades include the 2010 Edinburgh Comedy Award and the 2011 Barry Award for Comedy. Kane is also a highly sought after presenter, hosting shows such as Unzipped and I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here Now! among others.

Seann Walsh is the one of the most precocious talents to emerge from the UK comedy circuit. Within three years of his first comedy performance in 2006, Seann became the winner of the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year and has since established himself as a regular on prime time shows including Mock The Week, 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

Josh Widdicombe, the charming and charismatic comedian who was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2011, has risen to prominence and is now a regular on Stand Up for the Week and Mock the Week.

With an armoury of jokes that are set up and knocked over with startling precision, his material veers between sagely political and gleefully silly.

Widdicombe is a cleverly subversive comedian with a sharp intelligence that quietly hits the mark, effortlessly but effectively.

Other acts include Rob Delaney, Mark Thomas, Rob Beckett and Shappi Khorsandi plus:

Paul Chowdhry, Trevor Noah, Jamie Kilstein, Carl Donnelly’s National Novelty Dance Off Finals, Nathan Caton, Jarred Christmas, Andrew O’Neill, Joel Dommett, Katherine Ryan, Idiots of Ants, Tiffany Stevenson, Romesh Ranganathan, Tom Deacon, Ellis James, Lucy Beaumont, Luisa Omielan, Suzi Ruffell, Mark Simmons, Daniel Townes, Jim Smallman and Andrew Ryan.
