Upon hearing a title like Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, you know to strap in for a bit of a wild ride, but this documentary is beyond anything you possibly could have imagined. Following the feud between Joe Exotic, the tiger king himself, and Carole Baskin, big cat saviour, you’d be forgiven for not expecting the plot twists that follow.

Tiger King: Murder, Cults and Presidents would be a more fitting title, but it doesn’t contain the marketable alliteration used in the original. You read that right though. This documentary includes multiple murder plots and accusations, literal loss of limb, more than one group that may be a cult, polygamist marriages, and this isn’t even the craziest stuff we’re introduced to. One of the most normal, and relatable, people in this documentary is a drug dealer who apparently saw a federal agent get cut up.

The main reason everyone is talking about Tiger King, is its almost impossible to stop thinking about it once you’ve watched it. Every time you think you’ve cracked something, or begun to understand someone, you remember something else that once again leaves you questioning how exactly these things happened in real life. The choices, decisions, and mistakes these people make are just so far out of the norm for the vast majority of people.

Perhaps the best part, this isn’t over. Parts of this tale are currently being covered by the news over in the US, and even more exciting is that the iconic Jeff Lowe has revealed Netflix is shooting one more episode, set to air next week. In the same video, he displayed the humour we became used to over the course of the documentary and told viewers ‘You need a life. You just wasted seven hours on us!’.

Time enjoyed is never wasted though, Jeff!

Find Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness on Netflix now, and if you need more of a push to watch it, you can find Joe Exotic’s music videos on Youtube.
