The Omen is to be adapted as a television show for US network Lifetime.
The broadcaster has placed an order for six episodes of Damien, based on the classic 1970s horror movie from Twentieth Century Fox.
Damien is the brainchild of former Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara, who will write and executive produce the series, alongside Rose Fineman and Pancho Mansfield.
The film will feature an adult incarnation of Antichrist Damien Thorn, depicted as an infant in the original film and a teenager in its sequel, Damien: Omen 2.
Sam Neil played an adult Damien in the third movie instalment, Omen 3: The Final Conflict, which arrived in theatres in 1981.
Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Lifetime, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing a contemporary version of The Omen’s Damien Thorn back to the screen.
“Glen Mazzara has re-imagined him as a dark, romantic, anti-hero and this fresh take blends complex characters with premium storytelling to make something truly original.”
Damien will air on Lifetime early next year, joining several other classic horror revivals on the small screen, including Psycho and Rosemary’s Baby.
