As the final season of True Blood is about to begin, there are discussions about the hit TV show making a musical debut on Broadway.
The vampire series has become popular due to its graphic, gory content and brilliant story plots. It has been reported that there may be a True Blood-The Musical taking place.
The musical will be filled with characters singing and dancing. The stage show will be focusing on the main character, Sookie Stackhouse the telepathic waitress who is played by Anna Paquin in the series.
The idea came from the composer Nathan Barr as he stated at the True Blood premier, “This was something that I pitched to HBO and (show creator) Alan Ball”.
Co-star Stephen Moyer showed of his singing talent last year on NBC’s live telecast of The Sound of Music. The bloodsucker actor had admitted that he had helped Barr to put the musical idea together in this statement: “I helped Nathan with some of the songs and we presented them to Producers”.
Unfortunately, even though he can sing, Moyer won’t be playing Vampire Bill on this Broadway update.
The stage play will “return to the roots of the show” as Barr discussed the idea. The idea is still in the progress of pitching with help from Stephen Moyer. However with promise, Barr hopes to start workshops in 2015.
This isn’t the first time that a vampire TV series has hit the stage. The teenage show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer with Sarah Michelle Gellar had its own Broadway show. “Once more, with feeling” was a musical written by the shows writer Josh Whedon. The musical featured cast from the TV series which became a success for fans of the show.
With all this vampire excitement, True Blood’s final season will be shown on FOX TV from 7th July.
