Jack Black is set to link up again with director Richard Linklater for a new dark comedy entitled Bernie.

The Tenacious D star first worked with the filmmaker on the much lauded School of Rock and now the pair will reacquaint themselves over the dark comedy which also stars Shirley Maclaine.

The film is set in the small town of Carthage, Texas, and tells the tale of Black’s alter-ego Bernie who is a mortician. He unwittingly befriends a wealthy but demanding widow, played by MacLaine.

Tragedy strikes when Bernie accidentally kills her and the comedy comes on thick and fast as he spins an elaborate web of lies to convince everyone she is still alive, inevitably entrapping himself.

Black’s next big screen outing is Gulliver’s Travels, while Linklater is in the early stages of directing a 12-year film production, which documents the progress and growth of a young boy and stars Ethan Hawke.
