Born to be Wild: Hopper Dies Aged 74

Screen legend, Dennis Hoppper has lost his fight with prostate cancer and died aged 74.

Hopper will be remembered for capturing the spirit of a generation in his writing and directing debut, Easy Rider which he also starred in alongside Peter Fonda and Jack Nicholson.

The film appealed to the anti-establishment youth revolt that was happening and was a box office hit,revolutionising independant cinema.

After battling drugs, alcohol and his own personal demons Hopper arrived on the other side having made his most critically acclaimed work in films like Apocolypse Now and Blue Velvet.

The True Romance actor was a skilled photographer and art lover owning one of the biggest art collections in the US. He visited Liverpool back in 2007 to award Mark Wallinger the Turner prize at the Tate.

A true artist and rebel with a cause, Dennis Hopper leaves a legacy of cinematic work behind.
