Quentin Tarantino has reportedly finished and submitted the first draft script for his upcoming re-boot of the 1966 western, Django to the Weinsteins.
Titled Django Unchained, the Pulp Fiction mastermind has picked Christopher Waltz for a prominent role, after the German turned in an Oscar winning performance for Tarantino's last effort, Inglourious Basterds.
Django told the story of a drifter hunting Major Jackson, a murderous villain who killed Django's wife.
The director should have fun with the hero's weapon of choice; a coffin which conceals his machine gun, similar to pal Robert Rodriguez's Desperado and his lethal guitar case.
The revenge tale will pay homage to both Sergio Corbucci's original and Takashi's Miike's Sukiyaki Western Django, but we can expect the American filmaker to add his own unique touch of violence and sharp dialouge to the mix.
Django Unchained is expected to enter production later this year and will be the eighth movie of the celebrated director's career.
