Batman 3 - Dark Knight Rises last for Nolan before Warner Bros reboot the franchise again

With both Marvel and DC rebooting several comic book films recently (Spiderman, The Hulk, Superman), most fans assumed that Chris Nolan’s Batman series was safe.

Think again Batman.

Warner Brothers President, Jeff Robinov, told the LA Times that when Nolan leaves the Bat Cave after the Dark Knight rises, the franchise will once again be reinvented.

“We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman. Chris Nolan and Emma will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is.”

This seems to be a clear move to rival Marvel’s forthcoming Avengers film with DC’s own Justice League of America franchise.

With Superman set for a 2012 release, Green Lantern wrapped up and Robinov revealing that scripts for The Flash and Wonder Woman were already underway, all that is left is to bring Batman in line with their upcoming films to complete the original JLA line up.

The Batman franchise looks to be in good standing to compete with the other superhero movies that are hitting it big at the box office, one hopes the Batmobile makes a spectacular return and Bruce Wayne wont be listing it as a car donation section of the Gotham Times.

It appears WB see Nolan’s Dark Knight as a little too dark for a good old fashioned family superhero blockbuster, with Nolan’s Caped Crusader much closer to Frank Miller’s graphic novel version than the one seen on the pages of JLA and Detective Comics.

With Nolan still involved hopefully we’re not due another dose of the super camp (A la Joel Schumacher and George Clooney) and they keep some of the features that have made his first two Bat movies such a success.

All we are sure of is that once again Bruce Wayne’s story is going to be retold, from the beginning, again.
