Bill Murray will be reprising his role as Phil Connors from the 1993 classic movie Groundhog Day for a new ad during the Super Bowl this Sunday.

Murray is to be joined by his brother, Brian Doyle-Murray in the ad, and will be taking things back 2 years, reprising his role as mayor of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

Stephen Tobolowsky is also in the ad, who played the role of Ned Ryerson in the 1993 movie.

The new commercial looks to be for Jeep, and this year’s Super Bowl, to be contested on Sunday (February 2), happily coincides with Groundhog Day itself.

The advert appears to be for Jeep, this year's Super Bowl, to be played this Sunday (2/2/20) joyfully times greatly with Groundhog Day.

The ad was posted on Instagram with the caption: "The perfect commercial doesn't exi..."

“Phil Connor and Ned Ryerson reunite in Woodstock’s town square for a Jeep commercial, which the article states, could run for the Super Bowl (which conveniently runs on Groundhog Day). No update on Needlenose’s ability to recreate the whistling bellybutton trick.”

Harold Ramis directed the 1993 movie, which tells the story of a TV weatherman travelling to the small town of Punxsutawney in Pennsylvania, to film a news piece about their annual Groundhog Day, but ends up reliving the exact same day over and over again.

This isn't the first of Murray's iconic roles that he has been confirmed to reprise, last week, it was announced that Bill Murray is to return to his role of Dr. Peter Venkman for the 2020 movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

In more quite boss, happy happenings for the actor, Bill actually revealed last year that he once applied for a job at a restaurant in Atlanta, and of course, he got the job.
