Make Up Artist Vicky King talks what you should be wearing on your face as the nights get longer and the air gets colder.
As a professional make up artist, I am thankfully seeing a shift in make up trends. Women are stepping away from the Kardashian look, and embracing fresher skin and softer eye make up. Update your make up bag with a few simple products this Winter.
Glowing Skin
Foundation that looks like amazing skin is key. Try Smashbox Liquid Halo. Sheer to medium coverage is long wearing and suitable for all skin types. It's moisturising too, which is great in cold weather.
Red Lips
Christmas means RED. The red of the moment is tomato. Think ketchup hues tinged with orange. Try Lord and Berry 20100 Lip Crayon in Scarlett. Taupe eye shadow adds definition without looking too much. I used the Viseart Paris Nudes Palette on model Melissa, which you can view in the corresponding images.
Metallic Eyes
Bring the sparkle by applying a wash of metal across the lids. Here I used Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Eyeshadow in Comex Gold applied with a synthetic concealer brush. Leave the lips bare and look oh so couture.
Berry Lips
A hangover from Pantone's Colour of the Year 2014. Purple toned hues of plum and berry have been seen all over the red carpets and catwalks. MAC's Lipstick in Rebel is my top pick. Apply straight from the bullet, or dab with fingers for a stained effect. Sweep mauve blusher along cheekbones to balance the face, and keep eye shadow minimal with lots of mascara.
Kohl Rimmed Eyes
I love Avon SuperShock Gel Eye Liner Pencil. It smudges amazingly to create that grungy smoky effect. Apply along both top and bottom lashes and smudge out with a MAC 219 pencil brush. I paired it with lots of bronze eye shadow, again from my Viseart Paris Nudes Palette, but it looks fantastic on it's own. Brush up brows and apply a nude lip balm and you are good to go.
