Autumn fashion hits high street shops and online

Autumnal fashion is without a doubt the best thing to happen to the high street. So when you’re moaning about the icy cold mornings, it is reassuring to know you can grab your tartan scarf or fur coat to make dull days that bit brighter.

Leaving our light fabrics and pastels way behind us, it’s time to seize the season and update our winter wardrobes, as the high street handles the colder months impeccably.

Missguided's fun and quirky Halloween collection is what immediately jumps out - with the online retailer's front page boasting a ‘shop Halloween now’ - the line dominated by black and deep purple.

Pieces include a crop top with the phrase ’Twerk or Treat’ emblazoned on the front in orange font, and a monochrome bodycon dress covered in bat symbols.

Although clearly designed with the American holiday in mind, the stylish items could easily be transferred to everyday wardrobes, bringing some classic Goth to retail.

A firm favourite every year in the season of A/W is faux fur – and as the King of the high street, Topshop never fails to feed our furry needs.

This year they have brought back the classic faux fur gilet, which is the ultimate versatile winter staple. Not only available in black, but also pink red and khaki – tones that all mirror a festive feel.

Huge online favourite ASOS have nailed the autumnal vibe with swathes of velvet dominating their stock, from perfect party dresses to velvet feel tights, embracing the time of year with rich burgundy’s and deep blues.

All in all its always been much easier to dress for the cold, with the excuse to buy more clothes than usual as layering is key!
