Last night saw the one of fashions most exclusive social events hit New York City – the annual Met Ball. If there’s ever an occasion fit for celebrity royalty, it’s the Met, drawing in famous faces from across the globe.

Hosted by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, the Gala welcomed every fashionista, male and female, worth talking about – all for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Wintour herself was dressed in an interesting but demure Chanel Couture gown and oozed power and authority.

The white tie and decorations theme proved to be a huge success with elegance and glamour around every corner. The majority of the guests stuck firmly to the theme, with the ladies donning endless romantic gowns.

Unexpectedly, the stand out of the night was 18 year old Kendall Jenner, daughter of Olympian Bruce Jenner, who sported a beautiful nude satin gown from the bespoke Topshop collection, which came as no surprise after she modelled for them during London Fashion Week earlier this year.

Emma Stone stuck firmly to the theme but managed to give it a modern twist. Rather than going for the typical gown, she opted for a matching fuchsia top and skirt set, custom made by Thakoon.

Two ladies always keen to break the mould and stand out from a crowd certainly did not disappoint – Cara Delevigne and Rihanna. Cara was dressed by Stella McCartney, and rather than going for simple elegance, she brought a hint of grunge to the night in her strappy black crop top and white cigarette trousers.

Rihanna, also dressed by the famous designer, wore a white two piece including an embellished collar and a messy up do – obviously keen to keep her bad girl image intact.

Power couples were out in force, with the both the Beckhams and Beyonce and Jay Z looking flawless in monochrome. Kim Kardashian and fiancé Kanye West were also in attendance, with Kim posting a gushing tribute to her little sister Kendall on Instagram later on in the evening.

The red carpet was inundated with stunning stars in their designer clothes, but one guest that was hard to forget was Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whitely in her striking Balmain mini dress with its edgy leather and gold fabrics.
