Bill Murray, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday, is an undisputed style icon. Check out his natty threads for a phone interview with Jimmy Fallon. Pure drip and the Snoopy phone is a dream too.

The Ghostbusters comedy hero started off his early screen career in style with various turns on SNL and became the master of Slacker style, with films like Meatballs, Stripes and Tootsie.

He has since added a new understanding to the meaning of eccentric style on the golf course, with decades worth of quirky sartorial elegance on the fairways.

And that was before he launched his own William Murray golf apparel company with his band of brothers, which has been enjoying huge success.

Bill just knows how to carry off any outfit - so we think he must be a dream for the wardrobe department on films. Some standout roles include his Turtle Neck turn in Wes Andersons 2001 film The Royal Tenebaums.

Or to highlight that slacker style which has been back with a vengeance in recent years, how about how he brought back the Bucket Hat as greens keeper Carl Spackler in the 1980 golf movie Caddyshack.

And that's not to mention the 'beard-spiration' he can bring to the big screen... most notably as Steve Zissou in The Life Aquatic, which was specifically written for Bill.

The costumes in this Wes Anderson flick are a sharp lesson in keeping the simple balance between red and blue colours for the Team Zissou uniform, gentlemen can take inspiration from the neatly groomed full beard – a must have for winter months.
