Liberty London for Doctor Martens - beautiful Wild Nature colab

A beautifully crafted design clash is available this summer as Liberty London steps out for Dr. Martens with a floral prints collaboration, bringing together two beloved British institutions.

Liberty London brings nature, beauty and a refined intricacy to mind, at odds with the tough and rebellious ethos behind Dr. Martens.

But the design gurus at Dr. Martens maintain the partnership is entirely natural and has been developed organically. Displayed with the Wild Nature theme running through the collaboration.

Youth culture first started hand-painting floral patterns on their boots in the early 1980s, before the idea even became an official DM’s style.

The collaboration offers two main prints. Firstly, the romantically named ‘Strawberry Thief’, originally created by the world famous textile designer William Morris in 1883, which has become one of the most coveted and iconic Liberty archive prints.

As part of a revolutionary group of animal designs for the 1800s, the fabric depicts a naughty bird stealing berries – hence the name.

The design team at Dr. Martens have created a contemporary twist on this iconic design by incorporating the smooth leather colours found on the brand’s traditional boots and shoes.

The second print is the ‘Martens Flower’, which is a modern take on the Carlino design originally created by the Silver Studio for Liberty in 1930. Again, the Dr. Martens team met with Liberty’s archivists and unearthed this rare and seldom used print, in its original state.

Both prints can be seen on the traditional 8-hole and 3-hole Dr. Martens boots and shoes as well as the recently introduced Kensington and desert boot styles, offering a lightweight option for the warmer months.

The collection will be exclusively available in an area curated by Dr. Martens at Liberty of London’s iconic Regent Street store from May 1st.

Also from June 1st, they will be available from Dr. Martens own retail stores and selected premium accounts around the World.

Purple Revolver recommends that all refined lovers get themselves through the doors of a Doc Martens store in an early and orderly fashion to ensure they get a pair.
