Howard Be Thy Name, Über zine's first Shooting From The Hipster is launching his first live multimedia show Project O.R. at the Kazimier club, 4-5 Wolstenholme Square tonight.
The musical and visual artist was also on hand for Purple Revolver's Death Proof UK premier afterparty where he projected one of his infamous media mashups for Quentin Tarantino.
Now teaming with filmmaker and animator Lee Isserow of Opiate of the People Films, the two have constructed a mind-bending show of music and visuals that is bound to burn deep into audiences' minds.
Howard said: “I'm really excited to be launching it in Liverpool.
"It's been my home for 13 years. The Kazimier have been really supportive, as have Opiate Films @ Make Art Studios, and Liverpool is the only city I would launch this project in.”
Howard's project has been 10 years in the making, and consists of a combination of practical effects, projections, stop motion, digital animation, filmed and found footage, mixed with an eclectic blend of musical styles.
Lee Isserow is enthused to be working with the musical and visual artist. “Howard is nothing short of a genius.
I've never seen an artist who can cross genres so gracefully – and also has an understanding of visual media, and the infinite possibilities of practical and digital effects.”
After launching at the Kazimier, a condensed iteration of the show will be screening on the hour, every hour, from September 18th to November 28th, between 12pm and 6pm at Make Art Studios, 41-65 Duke Street, Liverpool, L1 5AA.
Howard says to expect the unexpected this Saturday. “We've got robots, projections, a giant singing head... I like to think of it as The Wizard of Oz meets Metropolis.”
