Since its release on YouTube over the weekend, the new Florence & The Machine video has racked up over one million hits.
However, ex-Bloc Party front man Kele Okereke and bloggers galore have criticised the video for its supposed racist connotations.
The video features a man painted black, later revealed to be Asian with a sack over his head. Throughout the video he is seen to be practising voodoo and has intentions to harm an 'angelic' Florence.
Whilst Florence is pursued by this figure, the video also showcases a choir of young Christian boys, who, in the end, save Florence after she plummets from the top of a tower.
Whether the video is intentionally racist or not, some may argue that releasing a culturally insensitive video is unacceptable in this day and age.
Are people just complaining about a whole load of nothing? Was the video created purely for these publicised purposes? Or is it a video that contains hurtful themes that need to be addressed?
